Yesterday, as I was just settling down for the evening with not a thought in my head, my friend called me in tears.  She is the one who has been struggling with money problems because she has not been responsible with taking care of her finances.  She was distraught over not being able to go home to visit her Mom for her birthday.  I listened to her sob story — that’s what I am calling it — and then I decided this was just the time to let her know we do not support her in the way she has been behaving.  She constantly spends money and then constantly talks about filing Chapter 7 to get back on her feet.  She thinks she will then have a handle on her finances if she can just go through that process and come out debt free for the most part.  I am still upset with her today, because she just blows off any advice or help anyone tries to give her, if it is not money.  I for one, have decided that I am not going to lend her any more money.  Our group of friends have also decided it’s time for a little tough love.
