PASSING BY THE PLAYGROUND

When I was passing by the playground the other day, I saw a team of children all wearing yellow jerseys like they were the LA Lakers and another team wearing all green jerseys like they were the Seattle Supersonics.  I stood by and watched them play each other for a while, but they were just two teams of children who had shown up to play.  There were no coaches or referees or anything else.  They weren’t organized in the least.  From as far as I could tell, they had done the whole jersey thing themselves.  Now I realize they’re children and I was young once too.  I know that children claim to be this team or that team, but this was really taking it up another level.  They were doing this all on their own and it wasn’t like they were extraordinary ballplayers for their age.  They still missed most of their shots, threw away the ball out of bounds a lot, and constantly argued over the rules.  They fouled each other too much and then they’d argue over whether or not it was actually a foul.  A couple of times, a few fights almost broke out over this, but the others showed enough common sense to break them up before they got too out of control.
